Material Description: It is a pre-hardened Chrome-Manganese-Molybdenum Cr-Mn-Mo steel designed for the plastic mold industry. 1.2312 is material produced by adding about 0.08% sulfur to material 1.2311. Sulfur (S) element provides easy workability to the material.
Chemical composition:
(Typical analysis in %)
C | Si | Mn | P | S | Cr | Ni |
0,28 – 0,38 | ≤ 1,00 | ≤ 1,00 | ≤ 0,03 | 0,05-0,10 | 15,00–17,00 | ≤ 1,00 |
Steel properties: Excellent machinability, Good toughness and wear resistance, can be nitrided to increase wear resistance, does not require heat treatment, It is not suitable for surface etching, chrome plating, patterning and polishing.
Applications: It is used as a core in plastic mold applications where gloss and surface quality is not sensitive, as a mold holder in plastic and metal injection molding systems, in high voltage machine parts.
Condition of delivery: Pre-hardened 280-320 HB (30-34 HRC).
