Steel Production
Turkey's crude steel production amounted to 3.1 million tons in May 2019 with a decrease of 8% compared to the same month of the previous year, and 14.3 million tons with a decrease of 10% in the January-May period.

In May 2019, finished steel consumption was 2.1 million tons with a decrease of 41.9 percent compared to the same month of 2018, and 10 million tons with a decrease of 35.2 percent in the first five months of the year.

Export
According to May data, exports of steel products amounted to 2.1 million tons with an increase of 30.3% in quantity and 1.6 billion dollars with an increase of 12.2% in value.

In the January-May period, compared to the same period of 2018, exports amounted to 9.8 million tons with an increase of 20.4% in quantity and 7.2 billion dollars with an increase of 6.5% in value.

Imports
Compared to the same month of 2018, May imports remained at the level of 974 thousand tons with a decrease of 45.4% in terms of quantity, and 865 million dollars with a decrease of 40.9% in value.

In the five months of 2019, compared to the same period of the previous year, imports amounted to 4.9 million tons with a decrease of 34.5% in terms of quantity, and 4.2 billion dollars with a decrease of 33.4% in terms of value.
